The Acupuncturist will take time with you to discuss your medical history and the reasons you are seeking acupuncture.  A Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnosis will be made, and a treatment plan will be discussed.  After you are comfortable in the treatment room, the acupuncturist will proceed with the treatment modalities best suited to your conditions. Wearing loose, comfortable clothing is preferred, as is the absence of scented perfumes.

During the treatment, sterile, thin, disposable acupuncture needles are inserted into acupuncture points. The insertion is almost painless, feeling like a small pinch followed by a sensation of fullness at the point. Needles remain in place for 20-30 minutes.

Treatments are relaxing, yet energizing.

Herbal Therapy

Herbal therapy is sometimes used to help compliment the treatment protocol. Depending on the TCM diagnosis, a formula will be recommended which contains just the right types and dosage of Chinese herbs to treat the condition. These may be in the form of capsules, tablets, powder, or teas.

Additional Modalities

Treatments may also include other therapies such as cupping, moxibustion, acupressure, gua sha, heat, cold, tui na, massage, and qi-gong .
